The Buzz #17

Halloween Edition!

If it is not scary enough riding a Scooter around NY’s Long Island, now we have to dodge Trick or Treaters. Hopefully you got your quota of riding in yesterday on our Horrible Halloween Ride and take a break today. Eight of us met up later than usual at 10am at our usual haunt, Town Bagel in Plainview. It is getting colder and the additional hour lets it warm up a little. A little… It seemed to be a Vespa fest and we are okay with that. We are ok with all kinds of Scooters in fact. Motorcycles too. As long as their riders are a treat and not a trick, LOL.

We took off to our first stop, Joel Rifkin’s house in East Meadow. Joel got caught with some bodies in his trunk while driving on the LIE (Long Island Expressway) without License Plates. Please note that is you are transporting Murder Victims in your Car’s Trunk, make sure you have a License Plate. It is believed he had 17 Victims.

Next up was Amy Fisher’s House in Merrick. Known as the “Long Island Lolita” due to her affair with Joey Buttifuco. Joey was supposed to leave his wife for Amy. When he didnt, Amy went to his house and Shot his wife in the head. His wife survives and still survives to this day. She is now deaf in one ear and her face is partially paralyzed as a result of the incident. She was found guilty of first-degree aggravated assault and served seven years in prison.

We could not leave out Joey Buttifuco house on this Horrible Adventure. He lives in nearby Massapequa. He owned a Auto Body Shop and it seems Amy was a customer in more ways than one. Both of them led separate but interesting lives afterwards. She went into making Porn, he got in trouble for Auto Insurance Fraud and Solicitation. It was all over the Tabloids and the News and shined an unwanted light on out Island of Long. Our ride continued…

One of the most famous haunted places on LI is The Amityville Horror House. Way back in the 70’s The Lutz Family moved into a fixer upper House in Amityville. Little did they know it was more than just the house that need fixing. Here is the story from Wikipedia…

  • On November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family at 112 Ocean Avenue, a large Dutch Colonial house situated in a suburban neighborhood in Amityville, on the south shore of Long Island, New York. He was convicted of second-degree murder in November 1975 and sentenced to six terms of 25 years to life in prison. DeFeo died in custody in March 2021.
  • In December 1975, George and Kathy Lutz and their three children moved into the house. After 28 days, the Lutzes fled the house, claiming to have been terrorized by paranormal phenomena while living there…

The place has been a landmark for decades. So much so, that they changed the address so it would be harder to find by tourists and ghost hunters. We know all the spots on LI, after all, we have been scooting here for over 23 years.

Our final stop was at Good Samartan Hospital in West Islip. While Hospitals have lots of horrible stories to tell, this one is pretty horrible. A Nurse named Richard Angelo poisoned over 35 of his patients, resulting in 10 deaths. He would then summon help and try to be a hero in saving them. he was sentenced to 50-years-to-life in prison. He was 27 years old. He is serving a life sentence at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility and will become eligible for parole in 2049, when he is 87.

BTW, at all of these locations, we respected the peoples privacy. We would just pull up in front for a moment, pull away and park nearby to discuss the location. We didn’t take any pictures or hang around to gawk. We have enough Drama without pissing off Serial Killers and their Families. LOL.

Thank you.

I want to personally thank everyone for coming out to our Second Annual Halloween Ride. Yesterday’s ride was a perfect example of what we are all about. Great people, great Scooters & great rides. I really appreciate the time you take out of your lives to come ride. It is a crazy world we live in and sometimes a ride to someplace new with your friends is just the thing to make it all worth while. Scoot On…
