The Hornets Save The Oak Beach Inn…
No, not really, we were a little too late. The Oak Beach Inn, aka The “OBI” was and infamous Bar/Restauraunt right on the Atlantic. It stood as a rest stop for may travelers and many years. Now it is a Fishing Pier. The owners lost their battle with the town of Babylon after a very long and protracted legal fight.
It has been a long time since we visited this spot. We have not been here since before Covid. Besides being a Fishing Pier now, it is also the site of one of the biggest car meets up on Long Island. The place usually fills up with all kinds of cars by 7am! Perhaps, most of us Scooter people are just waking up then, but when we get there around 11am or so, many of the cars have left and the these 2 wheeled things called Motorcycles take up residence. The only way to get there is Ocean Parkway. This gem of a road runs right along side the Atlantic Ocean for miles and miles. We buzzed by some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. The road is long straight and non stop, but a perfect way to use up $5 of Gas.
Air Conditioning…
Who turned it on? It has been getting colder sooner & earlier lately. We all feel it. That means it is time to get your Cold Weather Gear in order. While we do not ride much in Winter, you still do not want to freeze even if you take a short joy ride on your Scooter. A good rule of thumb is to realize that it is usually 10 degrees colder on 2 wheels, out in the open. While a Scooter offer some Wind Protection with its Legshield, a Motorcycle offers, well, not as much. Gloves. Do not over glove yourself. You need to be able to move your hands. It is not snow shoveling or skiing. These gloves may keep your hands warm but may leave you unable to safely ride your Scooter. BTW, we do not recommend riding your Scooter in the snow…

The Most Horrible Halloween Ride Ever…
Last year it was our “Ride Of Misery”. This year we will be even more horrible. We will swarm by some of Long Island’s most notorious criminals homes. We will not be stopping at some of these locations to ensure the privacy of those that live there. We have painstakingly put together a tour like no other. We hope the weather holds up for us, as our target date is the next Sunday Swarm, October 23rd. Check your facebook inbox for an invite. If you do not get one contact us ASAP. Hornets Facebook Update…

Just a reminder. Our Facebook “Group” has been compromised and has been deleted. We are sorry. With the ever changing rules about Groups & to maintain our privacy, there was no other choice. However our Facebook “Page” is very well, alive & active. It has been our Public face on Facebook for over a dozen years. Everyone is free to post, comment in the community section. Please just give it a like, if you already have not. Please tune in on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/hornetsscooterclub
Thank you…
As the season winds down, our need to thank everyone will not. We understand that you take your precious time out of your lives to ride with us on these not so common machines. We know that some of you suffer the slings and arrows of our biker buddies that ask you “When are you going to but a real bike”. Our little family of riders has continued to grow despite the Covid that nearly stopped us. I made a decision, at that time to keep this club together no matter what and I personally want to thank each and every one of you. After all we have been together for over 20 years, how about another 20? See you next Sunday…
