The Sunday Swarm…
Another Great turn out for our Sunday Swarm. Our group of regulars is growing with new members making it a habit to scoot with on Sunday mornings. Not only new members but new Scooters! Long time member, Gino got himself a 2021 Yamaha Xmax with only 240 miles on it! Wow, is it cool! We took a long ride to help break it in. Along for the Swarm was Tina in her brand new Honda ADV 150. We are always open to all brands of Scooters & Scooter Riders. LOL.
Our list of destinations begins in Plainview at Town Bagel. Sometimes getting there is a ride in itself. Some of our members came from as far away as Forest Hills, Queens, Great Neck in Nassau & Mastic Beach in Suffolk. Then after a Bagel or 2, we set out for Bayville. Bayville is the Northern most point on Long Island. It is Beautiful as it is old with fantastic views of Connecticut and northern NY across Long Island Sound. It is not close, but the ride is worth it. After that we went and toured the north shore towns of Mill Neck, Mateincock, Cold Spring Harbor and everything in between.

With new Members & new Scooters, we made it a point to not choose any routes with any crazy intersections, hairpin turns or loops. However the North Shore of LI, has no shortage of interesting roads to ride on. With that in mind we hit 25A Northern Blvd aka “The Route 66 of Long island”. It goes from end to end. We took it trough Cold Spring Harbor and attempted to get in to the Cold Spring Fish Hatchery on one admission, but they did not go for that, so we went on our way on 25A into Huntington and again up north to a town called Halesite in Huntington Harbor. They have a cool little park at the end of RT 110 where we often stop for a rest. From there we went the world famous Little Vincent’s Pizza for a slice with cold cheese on it and went our separate ways. One group rode back to Suffolk through Port Jefferson. It was a great day of Scootering and we want to thank everyone that came out to, Scoot On…

Two Forks, Two Ferries Ride UPDATE…
It is looking like Sept 18th may be best, but we will make it official next week. The Sept 11th weekend is also available, but it is an emotional and busy weekend for travel. For those of you that have never been on a long group ride, we highly recommend coming on a ride with with us BEFORE this journey to see if this is for you. It will be challenging, both physically and mentally. We will be on the road a long time. We will have a long way to go and a short time to get there, so sightseeing stops will not be possible. We want everyone to enjoy this ride and we will work together as always to make it so. Contact us now if you have any questions or concerns.
Bad Vibrations…

On August 17, 2022, Genuine Scooters issued a second safety recall on all 2022 NIU MQiGT EVO scooters sold in the United States. Excessive handlebar vibration may occur during operation of the scooter, which Genuine says could cause rider fatigue, or even loss of control of the scooter. This could potentially result in a crash and/or injury.
A total of 38 2022 NIU MQiGT EVO electric scooters were imported into the U.S. by Genuine, and an estimated 100 percent of these units are believed to be affected by this problem. Affected scooters were produced between January 14 and January 20, 2022. The VINs of affected vehicles range between HA6MET5A3N3000031 and HA6MET5A4N3000068.
According to the official safety recall report filed with the National Traffic Safety Administration, the problem is related to an “unidentified chassis issue.” Furthermore, the first line under Description of the Defect reads, “Do Not Drive The Vehicle” [sic]. Elsewhere in the document, the first line under Description of the Remedy Program reads, “Do Not Drive The Scooter”
